Jens Galschioet, a Danish artist, created In the Name of God: A crucifix for the right to contraception and sexual education, a piece of art outside of the Lutheran Cathedral in Copenhagen depicting a pregnant teenager hanging from a cross. According to the AP article, Jens Galschioet said the sculpture “was meant as a protest against Christian fundamentalists and the idea that “God allows nothing but chastity and unprotected sex.” Read more about the sculpture at the artist’s Web site.
I actually learned about this by coming across a homemade video by one of the many that this statue has touched.
